    The Environmental Authority holder must comply with each of the standard environmenta! conditions contained in the latest version of the Code of Environmental Compliance for Mining Lease Projects.

    Notwithstanding condition 14 of the Code of Environmental Compliance for Mining Lease Projects the holder of this environmental authority is permitted to conduct mining activities (trial peat extraction) within 1 kilometre but not within 50m of any endangered regional ecosystem (Category B Environmentally Sensitive Area).

    The mining activities undertaken at the licensed place must comply with the ‘trial extraction’ described in the “Proposed trial for peat extraction at Lynch’s Crater, Atherton Tablelands”, document reference 12SUTECO-0006, dated 12 April 2013.

    The trial peat extraction authorised in condition 5 must be undertaken between 1 June 2013 and 1 August 2013.

    Notwithstanding condition 5, the maximum volume of substrate to be extracted during the trial peat extraction must not exceed 6m°. A& The administering authority must be advised at least 5 business days prior to the commencement of the trial peat extraction referred to in condition 5. Permit Environmental authority AQ A written report must be provided to the administering authority within 8 weeks of completion of the trial peat extraction. This report must include, but not necessarily be limited to: a. how the trial peat extraction complied with the conditions of this environmental authority b. any impacts including ground water quality, substrate slippage or collapse, extent of halo impacts around the extraction site and the extent of any groundwater draw down around the extraction site c. rehabilitation required and undertaken d. identify the viability of a full scale extraction based on the trial peat extraction methodology
